Y Is for Yorick: A Slightly Irreverent Shakespearean ABC Book for Grown-Ups (Hardcover)

Being a student whose English teacher seems to have an unnatural love for assigning Shakespeare to his students, I’m often found staring blankly at a play wondering, “Who is this Regan chick and what’s her problem with Cordelia,” or even worse, “What? Another character? REALLY!?” While this book doesn’t solve most of my problems with the Bard it certainly helps with understanding all the important characters. From Ariel in The Tempest to EliZabeth in Richard III (it’s a stretch I know but I’m allowing Adams to work under a creative license), this quick read synthesizes the seemingly endless pages devoted to the dramas in a way only picture books can. - Brenna
The perfect gift for Shakespeare fans, Y Is for Yorick is full of witty references to the Bard's unforgettable plots and characters. Readers will love perusing the cheeky illustrations and reading such entries as "J is for Juliet. Juliet teaches all young girls that if you truly love someone, wholly and completely, it will be the death of you."
Jennifer Adams works as a writer and editor in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the author of Remarkably Jane: Notable Quotations on Jane Austen. Y Is for Yorick is her ninth book.
A witty A to Z for Shakespeare lovers.
