TEEN & ADULT EVENT - CYNTHIA WOODTY: SUMMER OF SUNFLOWERS 7PM Cynthia Woodty, who grew up on the Navajo reservation in northern Arizona, visits with her independently published debut novel, Summer of Sunflowers. Woodty tells the story of 16-year-old Shannon Scott, who returns to the reservation to spend a summer with her grandmother, expecting a peaceful vacation and a break from her hectic city life in L.A. What she encounters instead is a dramatic summer of shocking and unexpected events -- a surprise visit from strangers, the murder of a local Navajo man, a new love interest, and a flood of bad memories she thought she’d tucked away for good.
