Amy Silverman (Phoenix New Times) and Deborah Sussman (ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts) present a one night workshop for writers.

Sharpen your pencils and hit the paper with this one-night workshop filled with prompts, exercises and advice designed to spark ideas and set writing goals even at the busiest time of the year. Please bring paper and pen or the electronic device of your choice.

ABOUT THE HOSTS
AMY SILVERMAN is managing editor at Phoenix New Times, where she's worked for more than two decades. She holds a master of science degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and has taught at Arizona State University's Cronkite School of Journalism as well as co-teaching Mothers Who Write with Deborah Sussman for more than a dozen years. She's a commentator for KJZZ, the Phoenix NPR affiliate, and her work has appeared on "This American Life" and in publications including Lenny Letter, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Brain, Child and salon.com. Amy's book My Heart Can't Even Believe It: A Story of Science, Love and Down Syndrome was published in 2016. She blogs at girlinapartyhat.com

DEBORAH SUSSMAN received an MA in English/creative writing from Hollins University and an MFA in fiction from the University of Virginia. She has taught writing at the University of Virginia, Phoenix College and Arizona State University, and she co-teaches the writing workshop Mothers Who Write with Amy Silverman. Formerly an editor at Scholastic and at Jewish News of Greater Phoenix, Deborah is the communications and media specialist for ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Her work has been published in The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Washington Post, Phoenix New Times, and Art in America.
