7PM THURSDAY, AUGUST 9 An Evening of Locally-Grown Fantasy— J.A. Giunta: The Mists of Faeron • Sharon Skinner: The Healer's Legacy
Local authors J.A. Giunta and Sharon Skinner visit with their fantasy novels The Mist of Faeron: Book Two of The Ascension and The Healer's Legacy. More info: brickcavebooks.com.
In The Mists of Faeron, Barr — betrayed and robbed of a sentient sword called Aislin, his friends dead or dying — wakes in a realm of swirling mists that allow for travel by thought alone. There he finds the Matron of the Mists, the mother he has never known. But without the sword, her power to maintain the balance between the planes is waning. Barr and his friends might be the only thing standing between her — and all the worlds' — destruction. They must recover the sword.
In The Healer's Legacy, Kira has a secret: she can communicate with animals. She is also on the run from her abusive mate, Toril, the former hero turned warlord, who led the country's forces to victory against the outland raiders. But that was before his love of power consumed him. Now his only focus is tracking down Kira and making an example of her.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR J.A. GIUNTA was born in Brooklyn. Though he spent most of his childhood growing up on Long Island, he has been living in Arizona for more than twenty-five years. Spooled from a dot-matrix printer, that first manuscript has not survived, but it has evolved to form The Ascension trilogy. He currently lives with his wife and six-year old daughter in Arizona, where he credits all of his work to the advent of air-conditioning. More »
