| Meet Cynthia Hogue, Rebecca Ross, & Karen O'Toole 7pm Tuesday, September 7 Poet Cynthia Hogue and photographer Rebecca Ross present excerpts from their co-authored book, When the Water Came: Evacuees of Hurricane Katrina, which gathers the intimate recollections of eleven Louisiana and Mississippi residents and the details of their lives during and after Hurricane Katrina. Hogue and Ross convey the experience of a cross-section of evacuees, their journeys from the Gulf Coast to the Arizona desert, and their efforts to make new lives. Includes a poetry reading by Hogue and a slideshow by Ross. Author and screenwriter Karen O’Toole wil also present her book Orphans of Katrina, a memoir about the massive effort to rescue thousands of pets affected by the flooding. | ![]() |
