Launch Party - Nancy Rossman: First Love, Last Dance

Nancy Rossman visits with First Love, Last Dance, the memoir of her mother's life from 1941 to 1995. Elise fell in love and became engaged to Peter in 1941, but a year later broke the engagement and married Richard instead. Neither Elise nor Peter forgot the love they shared. They lived separate but parallel lives, marrying other people, and having children. Each year, on Elise’s birthday, Peter phoned and chatted for a few minutes, which ironically never made Richard jealous. “He’ll be your new dad if anything happens to me,” he joked to the children. Rossman says that she never thought anything about that possibility, but she did wonder about the mysterious man and how he compared to her dad. When he died an early death, she found out: Elise and Peter resumed their engagement and married when Elise was 75 years old: five decades after they first fell in love. Rossman will also show the NBC/CNN interview that aired on February 11, 2010.
