For nearly eight decades, these intrepid brothers explored and photographed Grand Canyon from rim to river. The Kolbs dangled from ropes, clung to sheer cliff walls by their fingertips, climbed virtually inaccessible summits, ran seemingly impassable white-water rapids, braved the elements, and ventured into unknown wilderness—all for the sake of a great photo. The Burning Girl

by Claire Messud | Hardcover, $25.95 »

The Burning Girl "This is a fantastic read. This a novel is about growing up as a girl with the interior and exterior struggles of adolescence. This is a story about a friendship and the rifts that occur with time and influence. The brilliance of this story is that like in the real world, we never fully get the 360 of anyone's personal story and the pieces we have to put together to move forward."  —Cindy

The Bedlam Stacks

by Natasha Pulley | Hardcover, $26.00 »

The Bedlam Stacks "First of all, if you are looking for a fast-paced, quick-to-the-action book, step away from Natasha Pulley. That is simply not how she unwinds a story. Her descriptions and characterizations are unraveled slowly and lovingly. If you are a lover of deftly woven narration and elegant description, definitely read this book. It has a taste of mystery, a dash of magical realism, and a few hints of historical fiction. I frequently found myself re-reading passages just to enjoy the descriptions..."  —Scott

The Resurrection of Joan Ashby

by Cherise Wolas | Hardcover, $27.99 »

The Resurrection of Joan Ashby "This book could be subtitled 'No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.' Our heroine is a gifted, successful author from a very young age, who knows her own mind, and who has no interest in marriage or motherhood. However, events conspire, and she ends up with both. She is exemplary in these roles too, bending over backwards to make sure she is the only one who has to make sacrifices, writing in secret to keep her core alive while she waits until the day when she can resume her career openly. A completely unexpected betrayal threatens to undo this carefully preserved dream. The author has made this a very suspenseful story about the choices women must make."  —Georgeann
