But every twelve years the city descends into the bloody chaos of the Forgetting, a day of no remorse, when each person's memories — of parents, children, love, life, and self — are lost. Unless they have been written. In Canaan, your book is your truth and your identity, and Nadia knows exactly who hasn't written the truth. Because Nadia is the only person in Canaan who has never forgotten. More »

Now Scythes are the only ones who can end life — and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control. Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe — a role that neither wants. These teens must master the "art" of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own. More »

James Riley: Secret Origins (Story Thieves)

TEMPE | 7PM TUESDAY, JANUARY 24

Secret Origins
James Riley
The New York Times bestselling author of the Half Upon a Time trilogy presents the third book in the bestselling Story Thieves series.

Owen and Bethany have sworn off jumping into books for good. But they didn't make any promises about not jumping through strange portals that lead to a comic book world.

Jupiter City was once filled with brightly costumed superheroes and villains, but nowadays, there's nothing left but the Dark. Even the villains are terrified of the Dark's shadows, and most of the heroes have either disappeared or been lost to mind control. The one hero who might have stopped all of this, Doc Twilight, has been imprisoned by the Dark.

But who is Doc Twilight really? And how can Bethany and Owen defeat the Dark without superpowers of their own? They'll definitely need the help of some old friends and new allies to bring the light back to Jupiter City, and find out the truth behind the Dark. More »

Caravel

Caraval

by Stephanie Garber | Hardcover, $18.99 »

"When I first heard of Caraval and its constant comparison with The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (with which I'm more than a little obsessed), I was intrigued and skeptical. I must say, though, that Caraval stood up well to expectations. I understand the comparison, but you have to give props to Stephanie Garber for writing a book that, while reminiscent of The Night Circus, is a captivating tale in its own right. I found myself swept up in the mystery, trying desperately to hold on to what I "knew" to be true of this fictional reality. Like the players, as much as I tried to stick to the facts, it was often hard to discern what the truth really was until the very end. Bravo, Stephanie. Bravo."  —Brandi
Life in a FIshbowl

Life in a Fishbowl

by Len Vlahos | Hardcover, $17.99 »

"Jackie Stone is living her life in a fishbowl. Everything she says and does is being filmed and broadcast to the world. Why? Because her dad is dying of a brain tumor and sold his life on eBay to a reality TV show producer. Jackie is determined to end the TV show with the help of her friend in Russia. This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster and you won't want to put it down. Len Vlahos uses so much detail and it feels like you are experiencing the whole story with Jackie. I think that even if your dad isn't dying of a brain tumor and your life isn't being televised to the world you will still be able to relate to Jackie and how alone and betrayed she feels. I really loved this book and felt like I was going through it all with Jackie no matter what happened."   —Eden (13), B.I.T. reader

Please Note: Len Vlahos will be at YAllapalooza 2017 in Phoenix on January 28th. Learn More »
Under Rose-Tainted Skies

Under Rose-Tainted Skies

by Louise Gornall | Hardcover, $17.99 »

"Nora is a girl with OCD and agoraphobia, something that keeps her from ever stepping foot outside. That is, until she meets her new next door neighbor Luke. Under Rose-Tainted Skies is the perfect book to sit down with and read all in one sitting. It will make you laugh out loud and fall in love with these characters. Luke and Nora's story is not something that you want to miss. Get ready to hang onto the edge of your seat because this book is a roller coaster of all the best combinations—love, laughter, and a fantastic story about a boy and a girl in love. "   —Isabel (15), B.I.T. reader
