Before you start your letter, here's some basic information about working at Changing Hands. We hire both part and full-time help. Evenings and weekends are to be expected. Everybody's schedule changes from time to time as our needs change with the seasons. Most entry-level positions consist largely of cashiering and shelving of new and used books. However, as opportunities present themselves and your interests and expertise develop, you can expect to move into other areas of operation such as information counter shifts, receiving, used book trading, ordering, display or bookkeeping.

The work here is highly customer oriented, very detailed and often physically demanding. We highly value teamwork. Most of us fulfill a variety of store functions and are expected to pitch in when and where needed. We see teamwork, flexibility and customer service as critical elements to the success of this store.

Changing Hands has a modest benefits package, which includes a staff discount, holiday and sick pay, a medical reimbursement plan and a retirement plan. Other benefits to working here are less tangible, but apparent to booklovers. We value the opportunity to bring together books and people in an open and friendly atmosphere.
