I would recommend this book to any teen who has an addiction, is curious about drugs, or is simply looking to better understand what drugs really are as well as their effects and consequences. -Natalie, 13

This book is like the shy person in the corner with unsuspecting depth. The soft start kicks off the story in a simple and majestic way. The author did a fabulous job portraying the characters to better resemble reality for most teens. There's a more realistic focus on identity, jealousy, friendships, and most importantly whether the characters want to change anything in their lives. The aspect of change in this book was unique and creative. I absolutely love how the book made me think about deeper elements of childhood and growing up. The character’s emotions were portrayed beautifully and resembled life, not just a painted idea or concept. I doubt I'll read a book as spectacular as this again. -Natalie, 13

Fans of The Fault in our Stars, The Echo Room, and Groundhog Day will love this book about mental illness, time lapses/traveling, and reliving the same three months countless times. It's hilarious and heartbreaking, and probably also agonizing for the main character. Through countless tries and fails (or successes), the main underlying key of importance is found to be honesty. I love that aspect of the book because honesty is what maintains trust and builds relationships (or destroys them). I was highly impressed with this simultaneously lighthearted and meaningful book. -Natalie, 13

I want to begin with saying that WICKED SAINTS has become my favorite book, ever. In truth, it’s the novel of my gothic heart, a perfect combination of everything I love. Set in a flawless fantasy world inspired by Russia and Poland, WICKED SAINTS tells the story of Nadya, a Kalyazi cleric, as she tries to end the war destroying her country. And the story of Serefin, crown prince of Tranavia, as he races to uncover his father’s deadly plot. As a cleric, Nadya can speak to gods, but when Serefin and his heretical blood mages attack her monastery, not even the gods can protect her. If you want to read a deliciously dark story with blood magic, complex religions, and characters with questionable morals, this is the perfect book for you. -Sarah M., 17

This book tells a story of what to do at the end of a relationship. It left me on my toes, full of hope, and searching for every story for these characters. This story is unique in its focus on a breakup, rather than a relationship. It answers the often-ignored question of “what happens when love ends?” It is a great story, not just because the happy parts, but also the sad. This story shows the ups and downs of life, while still maintaining the idea that life can get better. -Paulina, 16

Reading this story through the eyes of Aggie Frank and Max Granger after they lost their older sister (Aggie) and brother (Max) is like a fabulous take on Romeo and Juliet. If you like books filled with emotion, chapters that keep you on the edge of your seat and refuse to let you go back to the normal world, and happy endings, SINCE WE LAST SPOKE is the perfect read for you. I finished this book in a total of two days. Not once did I stop thinking about the book. Brenda Rufener books will definitely be on my want-to-read list. -Naomi, 13

This is a novel that strikes close to home. Growing up I was very similar to the main character, Milla. My hair was always tangled, my clothes soiled, and I always had dirt in my shoes. But trying to summarize this novel is extremely hard. Yes there are demons and witches and creepy villages, but overall this is a story about loyalty, love, and ignorance. In essence it's about girls who don't adhere to social norms and how society treats them. It's about standing up and being yourself even if no one believes you. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone, for it is such a beautifully written and eye-opening novel that anyone will enjoy it. -Ari, 17

This is such a powerful book. Featuring writing, poetry, journal entries, artwork, and photos from the survivors of the shooting at MSD, this book tells their story. The voices of the students can be heard loud and clear in this collection. Their writing is poignant and full of cries for change. I felt so much sorrow while reading about what happened that day, and I cried a lot. But that is what we all need to read to open our eyes and start listening. I encourage you to read this to understand what happens in our country and in our schools, and to hear the voices of the survivors in PARKLAND SPEAKS. -Isabel, 17

As a new Primera, Daniela is blackmailed into spying on the world's most powerful people for the resistance. As the story unfolded, I felt like I was a part of it, like I could feel Daniela's emotions. It seems everyone has a secret, which adds a little mystery to the story. The lively characters, action, romance, and the Medio School's interesting culture makes this book well worth reading. -Regann, 13
