ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATORS
- Don't want to drive? Take the Light Rail! It lets off at the Central Avenue/Camelback Park-and-Ride, which has hundreds of free parking spaces across the street from Changing Hands.
LYNNE AVRIL has illustrated all the stories about young Amelia Bedelia. The artist lives in Phoenix, Arizona.
MOLLY IDLE is the Caldecott Honor–winning creator of Flora and the Flamingo
. She lives in Tempe, Arizona, with her fabulous family, and when she's not scribbling away on her next project, she can be found (figuratively) devouring one of her favorite books, or (literally) devouring one of her favorite snacks…like blueberry pie!
STEVIE LEWIS has been living on the road in a van (she built out herself!) for the past 3 years, furthering her passion for climbing, art, and the outdoors. Striving to live simply and tread lightly on the earth, she gathers inspiration from a variety of places, be it climbing in the high desert at Smith Rock State Park, hiking and foraging for wild plants in the forests of southeastern Alaska, or sharing stories with fellow travelers around a campfire. After working for several years at DreamWorks Animation Studios, she now illustrates children's books and creates art based on her travels. Her latest illustrated work includes Prince & Knight
by Daniel Haack, Lost in the Library
by Josh Funk, the Finding Serendipity series by Angelica Banks, and the upcoming SUN! One in a Billion
by Stacy McAnulty.
JUANA MARTINEZ-NEAL is the daughter and granddaughter of painters. She started her story in Lima, Peru, and then moved to the United States. The winner of a 2018 Pura Belpre Illustrator Award for La Princesa and the Pea
by Susan Middleton Elya, Juana Martinez-Neal is still writing the story of her life, with the help of her husband and three children, in Arizona.
MIKELA PREVOST is an author and illustrator currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and their three kids. Born and raised in Southern California, she received her BFA from the University of Redlands, and an MFA in Illustration from California State University of Fullerton. Writing and illustrating for children has been her life-long pursuit and passion. Her work is driven by the desire to capture the whimsical innocence and unique perspective from which a child sees the world.
