Amy Silverman and Deborah Sussman present a virtual edition of their long-running workshop.

Amy Silverman (My Heart Can't Even Believe It) and Deborah Sussman (ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts) present a virtual edition of their long-running workshop. Motherhood is the only experience necessary in this workshop for writers of all ages and levels of experience. From published authors to secret journal-keepers, "Mothers Who Write" offers prompts and advice to get you started, as well as a constructive, comfortable -- and physically distanced -- setting in which to workshop your writing.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
  • Cost: $200 per person, for eight (8) sessions.
  • Register below or directly on Eventbrite.
  • Please bring paper and pen or an electronic device to write on.
  • Refunds will not be issued within one day of the event.

ABOUT THE HOSTS
AMY SILVERMAN is a freelance journalist based in Arizona. She holds a master of science degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and is an adjunct faculty member at Arizona State University's Cronkite School of Journalism and has co-taught "Mothers Who Write" with Sussman for more than a dozen years. She's a commentator for KJZZ, the Phoenix NPR affiliate, and her work has appeared on "This American Life" and in publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Brain, Child and salon.com.

DEBORAH SUSSMAN received an MA in English/creative writing from Hollins University and an MFA in fiction from the University of Virginia. She has taught writing at the University of Virginia, Phoenix College and Arizona State University, and she co-teaches the writing workshop "Mothers Who Write" with Amy Silverman. Once upon a time an editor at Scholastic, Sussman is the communications and media specialist for ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Her writing has been published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, Phoenix New Times and Art in America, among other places.
