Emancipation Marathon
10AM-5PM SATURDAY, JULY 9
LOCATION | IN-PERSON: PHOENIX

The Emancipation Marathon is a literary tradition that commemorates the victims of American Chattel Slavery.

Volunteers receive material that they may not be familiar with and commit to read out loud. This will be the 25th year of this event. Literary selections are within the contexts of Slavery: the definition, the law, the human condition and the legacy. Clottee has drafted a letter to President Biden calling on him to create a national holiday recognizing the history of American Chattel Slavery.
