Virtual Phoenix Cooks Cookbook Panel
Join award-winning author Christina Barrueta as she sits down with six chefs from her newly-released cookbook, Phoenix Cooks, for a two-part panel on comfort food and recipes for entertaining. Each chef will talk about their part in the Valley’s thriving culinary scene, discuss the recipes they chose to share in the book, and share tips for the home cook. Learn the secrets to Beckett’s Table's shrimp and grits, Jennifer’s Market + Restaurant’s heirloom tomato and watermelon salad, CRUjiente Taco’s Korean fried chicken tacos, and more! The discussion will also be opened for audience questions.

Justin Becket: Beckett’s Table and Southern Rail
Chef-owner Justin Beckett opened Beckett’s Table with his wife Michelle and partners Scott and Katie Stephens to instant acclaim in 2010. His skill in showcasing elevated comfort classics with seasonal ingredients earned him a 2012 nomination as Food & Wine magazine’s People’s Best New Chef along with a score of local “best new restaurant” and “best comfort food” nods. In 2016, he opened his second restaurant, Southern Rail, an homage to American classics with a Southern twist.
Adam Allison - Handlebar Diner
Chef-owner Adam Allison attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Scottsdale before going on to be a Food Network Chopped champion. He has been featured on Esquire TV along with local channels such as NBC 12, ABC 15, CBS 5, FOX 10 and Channel 3. At Handlebar Diner, he spoils guests with a menu based on his Southern roots accented with a Southwestern twist.
Jennifer Russo - The Market Restaurant + Bar by Jennifer's
Honing her skills working with acclaimed chefs such Vincent Guerithault as Mark Tarbell at Tarbell's, Jennifer Russo opened Jennifer’s Catering and Events in 1997 (winner of a Foodist Award for Best Arizona Caterer). When loyal clients said “you should open a restaurant,” Jennifer obliged and her Arcadia neighborhood gem draws the crowds with a menu of seasonally-driven, sophisticated comfort food.

Christina Barrueta is an award-winning journalist who has been inducted into the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame and received the Arizona Restaurant Association’s Foodist Award for Best of the Best Food Writer. The author of Arizona Wine: A History of Perseverance and Passion, she has written for publications such as Phoenix Home and Garden, AZ Wine Lifestyle, Four Seasons Magazine, Montage Magazine, and Time Out, and in 2019 was recognized by Arizona Foothills Magazine as Most Influential in Valley Food. Her website, WriteOnRubee.com, has been awarded Best Food Blog by PHOENIX magazine and is a three-time winner of Favorite Local Food Website by Arizona Foothills. She lives in Phoenix.
