Jennifer Niven has written arguably one of the most realistic and voice driven novels (in young adult or otherwise) that I have read in a long time. All the Bright Places alternates between two narrators: Violet Markey, a girl coping with the untimely loss of her sister, and Theodore Finch, a boy fascinated with death and dying. They begin an unconventional relationship that is sure to tug less than gently at your heartstrings and will have you riding that proverbial emotional roller coaster all the way until the end. Shelve the comparisons to books like The Fault in Our Stars or Eleanor and Park that you may hear; All The Bright Places stands tall on its own. --Heather H.

To fantasy and dystopian fans alike, this edge-of-your-seat debut should be next on your To-Be-Read list! In a world where the color of your blood - Red or Silver - determines your fate - poor or royalty - Mare's journey of intrigue, action and betrayal is sure to delight fellow fans of The Grisha Trilogy and Shatter Me. What can I say about Rainbow Rowell that hasn't already been said? She gets me. She's a Nora Ephron for the digital age. Each of her three excellent books, while standing alone, share the same clever sweetness - the same wit. I knew I would love Fangirl before I even opened it, and of course I did! Although I've never read or written "fan-fiction" as the main character Cather does, I identified with her intense love of books, her unabashed nerdiness and her weakness for guys with afloppy hair. Do yourself a favor and buy this book for yourself and everyone you know! --Lauren

I love old photographs, the older the better. I am one of those people who shuffles through dusty boxes of photos stacked under the tables at antique stores. I have photos of imaginary family members alongside the photos of my real family hanging on the walls of my home. So for me, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was a page turner before I ever READ a single word. The book is a treasure trove of exotic vintage portraiture. Ransom Riggs has built his story of a boy's dark fantasy world around vintage photographs that he himself has collected over the years. The story is an adventure, fantasy, and mystery all rolled into one. The writing is certainly entertaining, but half the fun for me was trying to figure out what the "real" story was behind each of these photographs. The girl floating on the cover?! The sad woman cradling her chicken?! Two strange white faced clowns connected by a ribbon?! You will be creating your own stories behind these photographs as you enjoy the one crafted by Mr. Riggs. The mystery continues and more photographs await in his followup, Hollow City. --WALT

My first thought upon finishing this book, pardon my French, was "Holy sh*t"! I was sucked into this story about the ultimate mean girls: teens who take their revenge plans just a little too seriously. The Merciless twists and turns, ending in a way I never expected. It lived in my thoughts for weeks afterwards and I might just have to read it again! A word of advice: read this one with the lights on and the doors locked! --LAUREN
